About the artists
Disinterested
Matt Brown crafts his pensive, lazy-day sound like
no other. Easy and gorgeous, humble and encouraging,
Disinterested grew out of the desire to make ambient
music with only a guitar, exploring the usage of
effects pedals and other experimentation during the
recording process. Originally intended to be a solo
project, Matt found it difficult to resist the desire
to collaborate and has enjoyed working with many
people on his two albums, including his bandmates
from Seattle's Trespassers William, artists over
the internet he’s never met (Ma-Chan, Klassen),
classical singer Dino Palazzi, and, on his new record,
renown guitarist Bill Frisell.
The Balustrade
Ensemble
The Balustrade Ensemble has been described as “an
underwater haunted bird sanctuary kaleidoscope”,
which isn’t too far off the mark. Like the aural
background to a Victorian science fiction film, world
traveler Grant Miller (from industrial-ambient Mandible
Chatter fame), and Scott Solter (Tarentel, John Vanderslice,
Charles Atlas, Boxharp, etc.), have developed
an amazing rendition of steampunk-ambient.
R/R Coseboom
Rebecca and Ryan (R/R) Coseboom are the songwriters
from Halou and Stripmall Architecture. Their first
project for Dynamophone features the naked beauty
of Rebecca’s voice entwined with Ryan’s
dynamic production and explores everything from linear
songs to more formless, organic compositions. Through
grace, intimacy, and spot-on technical prowess, R/R
bend the notion of what electronic music is supposed
to be, cradling you in their arms all the way.
Ryan Francesconi
Ryan Francesconi is a composer, conductor, guitarist,
balkan music performer, artist, and programmer. His
several current projects include touring and arranging
for Joanna Newsom, a duo with Seattle kora and oud
player Kane Mathis, his Bulgarian Trio Mopmu, a jazz
electronics project with saxaphonist Patrick Cress,
and his solo acoustic songs. He has released numerous
CDs in many styles and is currently living in Seattle
likely having a BBQ with his favorite Greek musicians
on earth.
Bitcrush
Bitcrush is the escapist solo project of Mike Cadoo
(ex-Gridlock member). Contrary to his work in Gridlock
and his earlier solo project as Dryft, Bitcrush strives
to fuse live instrumentation with experimental electronica's
glitch-centric production techniques. Bitcrush is
continuing to expand upon this style of fusing emotive
electronics and live instrumentation. He will be
presenting 2 ambient sets, comprised of new material
modified and improvised for the occasion.
Near The Parenthesis
Near The Parenthesis is the alias that Tim Arndt, a
San Francisco-based electronic musician, utilizes
for his warm electronic creations. While playing
conventional instruments like piano and guitar in
several bands throughout the years, Tim has continually
been grounded in electronic and experimental music.
After disbanding the Urban Needle project featuring
Steve Mehlman (Pere Ubu) and Mark Gamiere (The Wake),
he decided to go it alone and focus on full instrumental
compositions. Near The Parenthesis’ music is
gentle and restrained, yet deeply layered with a
heavy emphasis on evolution and emotion.
